Early Career

From Wicket-Keeping to Bowling Prowess:

  • Early Versatility: Born in 1990, Starc began his cricketing journey at a young age, initially showcasing talent as a wicket-keeper and batsman.
  • Shifting Gears: As he progressed through his teenage years, his bowling prowess started to take center stage. His natural height and left-arm action generated significant pace and swing, making him a force to be reckoned with.

Facing the Grind:

  • Injury Challenges: Despite his promise, Starc’s early career was plagued by injuries. Stress fractures and back issues kept him sidelined for significant periods, testing his resilience and patience.
  • County Cricket Stint: Seeking to refine his skills and gain experience, Starc embarked on a stint with Yorkshire in English county cricket in 2013. This proved to be a turning point, as he adapted to the different conditions and honed his swing bowling in English seam-friendly pitches.
